Yo!

I’m an Australian iOS Software Engineer working at Twitter from Perth, Western Australia. Previously I was a software engineer at Meta (formally known as Facebook) in New York and before that, I was the iOS team lead at Punters.com.au which is based in Melbourne, Australia. At Facebook, I worked on a few different teams such as UI Infrastructure and App Core Architecture which scaled our codebase to assist engineers so they can write better code for the hundreds of millions of users. I also worked on the Novi team which was Facebook’s attempt at releasing a stable coin cryptocurrency and I also spent some time on the Mobile Developer Experience team where I was tasked with adding Swift support to our tooling and infrastructure, paving the way for Meta to adopt Swift at scale.

Reading, writing and speaking

I enjoy keeping a technical blog of things I've learned with the Swift language as well as iOS development. In late 2016, I gave my first conference talk at try! Swift New York which motivated me to bring the same great experience I had, to the Australian community. I’ve since spoken in Australia, Budapest, China and been involved with other conferences in San Francisco and Boston.

Organising a conference

Shortly after my return to Melbourne from speaking in New York, I set in motion the plans to create Australia's first international conference for Swift and Apple developers. In February of 2017, Playgrounds Conference was held in Melbourne and received tremendous praise and high marks from attendees, speakers and the greater Apple development community.

Building community

Fostering a strong and supportive community is something which I'm very passionate about. In the past, I've been a co-organiser of the Melbourne CocoaHeads monthly meet-up and recently I've started a small initiative, Wu-Tang Clang, which aims to raise money for other initiative groups whose goal is to lower the barriers for people from underrepresented groups break into the tech sector.

Chasing snow

I’m fairly new to seeing snow and snowboarding but since I first discovered both the weather and sport in 2015, it has consumed everything. I love to travel to snowy and high altitude destinations whenever I have free time and the conditions are great.
